On the 20th April the SIRACH network event will visit The Centre for Sustainable Energy use in Food chains (CSEF). The Centre at Brunel University is dedicated to research into sustainable energy and carrying out cutting edge research investigating approaches and technologies that will have significant impacts in reducing CO2 emissions, both in the short term, and the target of 80% reduction by 2050.
Projects include investigation of technologies for reducing energy use at all stages of the chain. Whole system modelling and optimisation based on both bottom up and top down approaches to identify optimal ways for reducing energy use in food chains. Corporate and individual consumer behaviour alongside other factors such as changing demographics and increasing awareness of sustainable living on food consumption trends and how these affect food chain structure and energy use.
